Easter Holidays Kidz Zone Camp

During the Easter holidays we had loads of fun at Kidz Zone. We had 9 fun days full of sports, art, cooking activities and two trips. For the two weeks we had a Cartoon Festival Fortnight Theme. On Tuesday 2nd April the theme for the day was Turtles and Power Rangers. We had three activities running throughout the day. One of the art activities was Bandanas and Masks where the children designed their own super hero mask and bandana. The other art activity was Turtle lanterns and apples, we ended up having 35 Ninja Turtle Apples! We also had a basketball tournament running whilst the children were doing the art activities.

On Wednesday 3rd April we went on a trip to Reel Cinema Quinton to see The Croods. We made two mini bus journeys for 34 children and 6 staff. At the cinema the children spent their money on sweets, popcorn and drinks. The film was very good and all the children found it fun and entertaining. Once we got back we had lunch and the children enjoyed their free time. On Thursday we made Pop up Flower Pot Men and Pizza Making. We also had new sports coaches come in for a trial session with the children, we had Football, Basketball and Multi Skills.

On Friday it was animation day, the children were split into small groups. They had to come up with a story line for their animation and make their characters out of plasticine. Most of the story lines and characters involved princes, princesses, superheroes and witches. Once they had made their character and got their story line together they had to design a background for the animation station then they would go and film their animations. The other group had the chance to practice their tricks at trampolining. In the afternoon we had the Oscar awards. We had the projector, red carpet and the chairs set up like a cinema. We watched each animation and the children had to vote for their favourite animation. Everyone got a certificate and the group with the most votes won a trophy. Click here for the winning animation

In the second week, we carried on with the cartoon theme. On the Monday the children made Paper Bag Muppets and Gingerbread men. They made various characters out of the Muppets. The sport activity for the day was Netball. On the Tuesday we made some more animations and story boards and played Badminton. We had another trip on Wednesday, we walked down to Laser Combat in Oldbury and played three games. The children loved it there, we would definitely go again!

On Thursday we done Problem Solving and Construction and played Tennis. On Friday it was the last day, we done trampolining and made popcorn boxes in the morning. In the afternoon after free time, we set the room up like a cinema and let the children decided what film to watch. In the end we watched Gnomeo and Juliet and had loads of popcorn to share.
